- BURNIE WHARF UPGRADE, TAS
UPGRADE OF THE TOLL BURNIE WHARF TO ALLOW THE BERTHING OF THE NEW TOLL VESSEL IN MARCH 2019.
Special Features: Marine project / Wharf project
/ First project with Toll
With the purchase of two new ships to service the shipping route between Tasmania and mainland Australia from March 2019, Toll Shipping engaged SwitchCo Projects to manage the procurement and construction of the works to the wharf and seabed at Burnie wharf. To account for these new longer, wider, and deeper vessels, works at Burnie included a new RoRo ramp and associated structure, four new concrete dolphins fixed to the sea bed with steel piles, new fendering, and dredging of the sea bed. The successful delivery of this project was a very satisfying achievement for SwitchCo Projects, Toll, and the Principal Contractors, McConnell Dowell.
Through a terrific working relationship between Toll, SwitchCo Projects, and McConnell Dowell, this project was able to be delivered on time despite a number of on site issues that could have caused significant delay were it not for transparency and quick decision making.
