SUNTECH - ROBINVALE
SOLAR FARM, VIC
Suntech Power Development Australia engaged SwitchCo in an Owner’s Engineer capacity to provide technical advice, HSEQ oversight, and project delivery expertise for a 9.47MWp solar power generation facility outside the town of Robinvale in Northern Victoria. Working closely with both the Principal: Suntech and the EPC Contractor: ACEnergy, SwitchCo were heavily involved throughout the construction phase of the project from the review of Detail Design drawings and documentation, through regular feedback of HSE documentation and oversight of project QA, to recommendations on Testing & Commissioning procedures and results reporting as well as milestone payment substantiation from a technical perspective. SwitchCo were also tasked with curating a data room of the entire project.
The EPC contractor was engaged with a compressed construction timeline. As such, SwitchCo required to be agile and work collaboratively at all times in completing documentation reviews and providing feedback to ensure that a high standard of Quality in design and construction, and Health and Safety of site personnel were maintained. Additionally, the remote site location and restrictions of Covid-19 in 2020 added a layer of complexity to remotely contributing to the on-site HSEQ aspects of the project.
SwitchCo Projects was able to add value for both the Principal and EPC Contractor by applying practical approaches to assist in resolving project issues within the time constraints of the project while maintaining a high standard of quality and thorough documentation. Additionally, SwitchCo’s use of the Procore construction management software platform enabled the efficient capture, tracking, and resolution of RFIs, Defects, meeting minutes, and handover documentation between all parties.
