TOLL - WEBB DOCK CONTAINER TERMINAL UPGRADES, VIC
Client-Side Project Manager
12 months
$45M
Background:
With the purchase of two new larger ships in March 2019 to ferry goods between Tasmania and Victoria, Toll’s final stage on their terminal redevelopment was the upgrade of their Webb Dock container terminal. SwitchCo Projects were engaged as Project Managers to deliver the $45M upgrade. The scope of works for the project involved a large package of pavement works (including light, medium and heavy duty), construction of terminal infrastructure such as workshops, warehouses, gatehouses, fuel equipment and extensive electrical and underground services to install a new high voltage supply to the site.
Challenges:
SwitchCo Projects’ challenge was to hit the ground running on a site that was already underway before our engagement. As the project was facing some challenges at that time, our main goal was to direct the focus of all parties involved in order to get the project under control, whilst pushing ahead with progress.
Outcome:
SwitchCo Projects demonstrated our value on the project by providing prompt but considered decision making in regards to design challenges and alternate proposals that resulted in cost savings and mitigation of latent conditions. SwitchCo Projects demonstrated excellent stakeholder management, oversaw a great safely record on site whilst achieving timely authority approvals throughout, and excellent financial management with great budget and variation management processes. Ultimately, a happy client is proof of a successful outcome.
